The Showtime series “Weeds” is now casting starring roles for an upcoming episode for Season 8! Weeds is an American comedy series created by Jenji Kohan and produced by Tilted Productions in associations with Lionsgate Television. The main character Nancy Botwin, played by Mary-Louise Parker, is a widowed mother of two boys who starts selling Cabbanis (Marijuana) to support her family after her husband dies suddenly of a heart attack. As the show progresses over the seasons her family gets caught up in even more illegal things.
The show made its debut on Showtime, a cable network channel about 7 years ago and has been a hit since. They have been nominated for two Satellite Awards, one Golden Globe Award, Writers Guild of American Award, Young Artist Award, and an Emmy Award. The show was recently renewed for another 13 episodes and the premiere is planned for mid-Summer. The main characters in the series are played by Mary-Louise Parker, Hunter Parrish, and Alexander Gould. Kevin Nealon and Justin Kirk also make waves in the story. The Los Angeles based creator, Jenji Kohan, was also responsible for the HBO TV Series hit “Tracey Takes On…” that ran from 1996-1999.
There are a total of nine roles being cast for filming over the next few weeks. Talent ages 4 and up to 70 years old are encouraged to submit their applications and photos. No professional acting experience will be required for the roles, must be comfortable working in front of the camera and embody a big personality.
